ARA-290 (Cibinetide)
Also known as Cibinetide
ARA-290 (Cibinetide) is a small peptide derived from the hormone EPO, studied for nerve pain and tissue repair (for example in sarcoidosis) without EPO's blood-thickening effects.
An 11-amino-acid peptide derived from erythropoietin, studied for neuropathic pain and tissue repair (e.g. sarcoidosis small-fiber neuropathy).
Mechanism of action
Selectively activates the innate-repair (EPO/CD131) receptor for anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective effects, without EPO's red-cell stimulation.
Investigational. Plasma half-life is ~20 min but tissue-protective effects persist 1–3 days, so the burn-down understates its duration of action.
