A 28-amino-acid vasoactive peptide; the synthetic form aviptadil has been studied in ARDS and pulmonary conditions.

Mechanism of action

Agonizes VPAC1/VPAC2 receptors, causing vasodilation, bronchodilation and immunomodulation.

Research/early-clinical — not broadly approved. Extremely short plasma half-life (~1–2 min); inhaled or infused formulations behave very differently from this estimate.
